What's new in DevEx - April 30

Anthropic is fielding preemptive offers that would put it ahead of OpenAI's $852B post-money mark from February. Bloomberg reports investors are pitching a $50B round in the $850B–$900B range, with a board decision expected in May. If it lands at the high end, Claude's parent more than doubles its valuation in a single quarter.

Meta lays off 10% of its workforce to redirect spend toward data centers and AI talent. A day earlier, Microsoft launched the first voluntary buyout in its history, offering packages to ~8,750 US employees. The same companies pouring hundreds of billions into AI infrastructure are now extracting "efficiencies" from the headcount it replaces.

GPT-5.5 is now available on Bedrock with full enterprise plumbing: IAM, PrivateLink, guardrails, encryption, CloudTrail. AWS also launched Codex on Bedrock (authenticate with AWS creds, run inference through Bedrock, hit it from CLI, desktop, or VS Code) and Bedrock Managed Agents powered by OpenAI's frontier models and agent harness.

npm install @cursor/sdk now exposes the same runtime, harness, and models that power Cursor's desktop, CLI, and web apps. Agents can run locally, on a self-hosted worker, or on a dedicated cloud VM, and inherit the full Cursor stack: codebase indexing, MCP servers, hooks, skills, subagents, and any model including Composer 2.

Agents can now create a Cloudflare account, register a domain, get an API token, and deploy without a human ever touching the dashboard. Stripe acts as the identity provider and supplies a payment token so card details never reach the agent. New startups incorporating through Stripe Atlas get $100,000 in Cloudflare credits, and the same protocol is open for any platform with signed-in users to integrate.

Drop a docs URL into mintlify.com/score and get a snapshot of how usable your documentation is for the agents reading it. The tool is built on the open Agent-Friendly Documentation Spec, with Mintlify positioning agent-readiness as a shared standard the ecosystem iterates on together. With agent traffic to docs sites now rivaling browser traffic, this is quickly becoming a real DX surface.
